What expense(s) are you saying goodbye to this year, so you can save for a future goal? AC: 0315-7688
At the beginning of the year, my husband and I decided that we wanted to make a few changes. The biggest change is one that will save us over $200 each month: getting rid of cable.
I have to admit, at first it was a little scary to think about going without the hundreds of channels we were accustomed to. But, after reflecting on just how much we actually use cable — for our three-year-old to watch his toddler channel, for me to watch reality TV, and for my husband to watch his shows — we decided that there are many alternatives to cable that won’t cost us nearly as much money and would still allow us to watch the shows we want to watch.
This was not an easy transition, but it has definitely been working for us. It’s been about two months since we ditched cable and we are doing fine. Our toddler still has a variety of ways to watch his shows, and my husband and I find that we are watching less TV altogether.
Another bonus: instead of watching shows about people who are vacationing, we can take the additional $2,400 that we’re saving each year and use it toward a great vacation for ourselves!
Gone are the days of cable TV and the expense of hundreds of channels we never really watched anyway.
